From 1892 to 1924 over 22 million immigrants, passengers and crew members came ashore on Ellis Island and New York Port. The shipping companies that transported them filled out detailed lists of passengers, called 'ship manifests'. These lists have been transferred onto a vast electronic database, which allows you to search for passengers who travelled on those ships!
