eRepublik
eRepublik is something totally different. It's an online game that picks up on elements of Second Life, Facebook and Twitter. It's like being in a parallel universe!
Sign up, enter into the New World create your alter ego and begin building your "new life." You can find a job, advance in your career, earn money and find fame and fortune. You can find friends, relatives and the love of your life. There's a strong social network (in fact, it bills itself a "social strategy" game) here that doesn't exist in other online worlds.
Like in the real world, you don't just have to work all the time. You can play games with other citizens - there are poker tournaments and soccer games as well as betting on sports. If you have the inclination, express your opinion and become part of a political movement in the New World.
Currently there are more than 200,000 active citizens.
