TORCS
TORCS(The Open Racing Car Simulator) is a great 3D racing cars simulator that relies on OpenGL.
The goal is to use programmed robot drivers to race against each other. There are 20 car types to choose from and 11 teams you can join. The graphics are fantastic as are the tracks, of which there are 34, which range from mountain roads to nocturnally lit streets. There are also no lack of details, such as tunnels, bridges and trees. The fact that you can personalize your own car is also a plus, and if you have a bit of programming experience, you can even build your own from scratch.
Considering TORCS is an Open Source project, it's incredibly well done. The game is constantly undergoing changes so keep an eye on the official site. Torcs is also available for Mac and Linux.
