Facebook
These days it seems as if you aren't on Facebook, you may as well not exist . It used to be all the rage with just the high school and college set but now people from 10 to 100 are creating their Facebook profile, finding friends old and new and joining networks left and right.
Signing up is free and all you have to do is put your first name, last name and email address. You then personalize your profile with your picture (usually of your face, obviously) and add information about yourself, such as what schools you've attended, what your hobbies and interests are, etc. You can then search for and add friends, groups and networks.
Facebook is not as personalizable as MySpace (no changing the background here) but it does give you more opportunity to see exactly what your friends are doing - and in some cases - where and with whom. Though you can reveal as much or as little as you like about yourself, it is a great way to stay up to date with friends.
