So long ad-free conversations in Skype. The company has announced that it's going to be including "Conversation Ads" in the calling windows of those who make free 1:1 audio calls (if you call using Skype credit or a subscription, you shouldn't be subjected to them).
While the company says the ads are meant to provide users with content that could "spark additional topics of conversation" and to "generate fun interactivity between your circle of friends and family," some users resent the idea that they will be marketed to while on what is meant to be a private conversation.
The company says that call quality will not be affected and that the Skype user experience remains the top priority. What do you think? Do you think ads have a place in your conversations?
