Foobar
Foobar, which is also known as Foobar2000, is one of the best - and lightest - audio players out there.
While it doesn't sport the best looking graphical interface or lots of bells and whistles, it does do a good job of focusing on its core competence, which is playing audio files. There are lots of audio formats supported, including MP3, WavPack, WAV, AIFF, AU, SND, CDDA, WMA and more. Foobar also allows you to create playlists and tag each track. And while we've mentioned that the interface isn't the greatest, there is the possibility to personalize it with skins. If you are familiar with VLC Media Player, Foobar has a similar look.
The program is light and starts up in a matter of seconds. Foobar works on all versions of Windows, including Vista.
