Internet Explorer 7
Microsoft has released the definitive version of Internet Explorer 7, the browser that will be integrated into Windows Vista and is downloadable for XP using Windows Update.
This version features many changes compared to predecessor IE 6, which came out way back in 2001. First of all, the interface is entirely different. The menus have vanished (you can bring them back if you want) in favor of more icons. A quick-search bar (similar to the Firefox one) has been added, as well as anti-pop-up filters and other security functions. There's also "tabbed browsing" and an anti-phishing capablity.
Internet Explorer 7 is compatible only with Windows XP via Service Pack 2 (and obviously with Vista). Will it make a dent in Firefox's popularity? Who knows but Microsoft seems to have covered all of the bases...
