Internet Explorer 8
The browser wars are ancient history, right? Not exactly. The battle is more heated than ever what with Firefox having taken a chunk of users away from Microsoft's Internet Explorer. Microsoft, of course, is not taking it lying down. Internet Explorer 7 was launched with some decent new features, and now here's Internet Explorer 8 not too far behind. Does it offer anything new? Is it a more secure browser? Let's take a look.
Windows Internet Explorer 8 looks pretty much just like the previous version. What is different is that it is more secure and crashes less. There are also some additional plug-ins included, there is the possibility to import various things (such as your favorites) from Firefox and a new RSS feed reader. The Activities feature is quite interesting, and in theory should make it easier to find certain things on the Web. For example, if you are in the market for a new car, you can quickly find videos, blogs and other sites devoted to the topic as well as maps of the nearest car dealerships.
Windows Internet Explorer 8 works with Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista. Explorer 8 is still in beta version and Microsoft suggests you test it out but not use it as your main browser as it is still not stable.
